Highlights

  • Locket-style quick logging: open the app to the camera, snap a photo and enter the amount.
  • 3-wallet model: Savings (incoming money), Survival (daily spending), Investment (long term).
  • Runway mindset — know “how many days you can live on” instead of a rigid monthly budget.
  • Dual funds inside the Survival wallet: a daily-limit living fund + a reserve fund for risks & fixed costs.
  • Streaks to keep spending disciplined; fixed costs don't break the streak.
  • Photo journal feed: a timeline of spending moments, filter by month/type/category.
  • Mobile-first PWA — installable like an app, smooth on phones.

About the project

Spendly is a personal project I've been building since May 2026, now live at spendly.liqwy.com.

The idea comes from the reality of irregular income: some months are high, some are almost zero — so you need a “how long can I live on this” (runway) mindset instead of a fixed monthly budget.

All incoming money stays “cold” (in the Savings wallet) until you actively plan to move it into the Survival wallet for spending. The Survival wallet splits into two funds: a living fund spent against a daily limit, and a reserve fund for risks and fixed costs.

The app is a mobile-first PWA, with a Next.js frontend and a NestJS + Prisma + PostgreSQL backend, storing images on S3.
